We’re Back. Maybe.

Band Sir! Posted on April 5, 2023 by Dan WolfeApril 5, 2023

Our Internet service was just restored and the site is up and running again. However… … we have more severe weather on the way and this may not last. I’ll do my best to keep you informed through Facebook, if we are down again. Here’s what happened. In the severe weather on April Fools’ Day, a big tree in our backyard toppled over and took out power, phone, and Internet/Cable TV lines. In the photo, if you look closely, you can see the wires that were pulled down when the tree fell. While power came back late Monday afternoon, our … Get your chin in and keep reading…

Buried Treasure: Read the Comments

Band Sir! Posted on March 11, 2023 by Dan WolfeMarch 11, 2023

As many of you know, I’ve been maintaining this site for a few years now, and after a time working on any project, it gets to a steady state where not a lot changes.  While the under-the-hood things have been happening, the look and the content of the site haven’t changed a lot in the last couple of years.  When a new comment needs to be moderated, I usually give it a quick scan to make sure it’s not spam, approve it, and rarely do I give it a second thought. A couple of weeks ago, I was doing some … Get your chin in and keep reading…

Well, That Was Fun…

Band Sir! Posted on August 23, 2022 by Dan WolfeAugust 23, 2022

Good morning! While the physical move of the BandSir.com server went smoothly, a thunderstorm on Sunday morning caused a short power outage. The uninterruptible power supply failed and for some reason still unknown, the database software failed. This is why this site has been offline. Fortunately, I have backups, but I had to learn how to restore the site, having never needed to restore it before. It’s back up and running again — sorta. It’s not on a secure web page yet, but I’ll add that back over the coming days. If you find a link that doesn’t work, please … Get your chin in and keep reading…

I had a theory and this bio confirmed it’s a possibility; I dreamed? that the Duke’s talents included violin and clarinet originally; this seems to corroborate my memory. Of course my memory is of the fine Bandmaster he was at VF and how fortunate I was to be a member of his Bands! ( a […]

  • Comment on Dan’s Favorite Marches by JEFF CHRISTOPHER March 9, 2025
Hey Dan, hope you are doing well in Ohio. I did a little “research” and I believe Track 1 on the 1970-1971 Concert #1 is the march “Aufwarts” by Josef Gnos. Aufwarts translated from German, I believe, means “Upward”, which is the name of the March we played way back then! I remember playing it […]

In reply to Norm Arndt. Norm, You are correct about Black Jack. I had forgotten about it, to tell you the truth. Thanks much for the correction! Be well, Dan
