Not Marches: Tracks I Like

Band Sir! Posted on June 22, 2025 by Dan WolfeJune 22, 2025

Back in this post, I listed some of my favorite marches that are on the site. I got a lot of positive feedback on the playlist idea and so I thought I’d do it again. While there are no marches on this list, there’s a lot of great music and these are some of my go-to’s that I click on when I am looking for someting nostalgic and fun. Send your favorite playlist that you’d like to share and I’ll post it along with any notes you’d like to make. Email address is BandSir.com@gmail.com. Enjoy! All Audio Files Are Now Dowloadable!!

Band Sir! Posted on June 12, 2025 by Dan WolfeJune 12, 2025

A couple of years back, I had to replace the audio player on the site because the company that owned the original one went out of business. I switched to AudioIgniter Plus. I assumed that it had a similar download feature. I was wrong. After learning that you couldn’t download individual tracks, I have fixed it so that you can download any one of over 400 individual tracks on the site! (Anything hosted on YouTube will still not download.) To the right of each track name is a download button. It looks like this: Just click on the download button … Get your chin in and keep reading…

I Just Realized Something Rather Astonishing

Band Sir! Posted on May 30, 2025 by Dan WolfeMay 30, 2025

Believe it or not, BandSir.com is OVER twenty years old.  Right around 21 depending on the exact date but it’s so close to 21 years that I’d feel comfortable buying BandSir.com a drink. The roots of BandSir go back to 2004.  I’ll quote myself here because I’m too lazy to write something new. “Back in 2004-ish, fellow VFMA Alum Jeff Tobin visited me at my new home in Virginia. I had purchased a reconditioned Teac reel-to-reel tape deck, and I thought it would be a blast to thread up some of our old radio work as well as some of … Get your chin in and keep reading…

New Record Added – “Cadet Choir and Glee Club 1962-63”

Band Sir! Posted on May 25, 2025 by Dan WolfeMay 25, 2025

Check out “Cadet Choir and Glee Club 1962-63”, another VFMA music Record that’s been added to BandSir.com! Many thanks to Bruce Daggett, 67, 69 JC, for providing the digital files. Bruce tells us, “Finally finished the second album and uploaded it just now, ‘Cadet Choir and Glee Club 1962-63.’ This ’62-’63 Glee Club [vinyl] recording wasn’t particularly well cared for by the person I got it from on E-Bay. Fortunately the software worked it’s magic in removing the worst of the pops and scratches. I cleaned up the album covers and retouched up some text on the backside.“ Bruce DaggettBand Sir!67, … Get your chin in and keep reading…

In reply to Hugh Johnston. Talent runs deep in DK Feltham’s many bands. Can anyone tell me if John Hoffman is the internationally renowned trumpeter or is this just a coincidence?

In reply to Dan Witter. I would have done better playing the trombone in felthams band than sax and clarinet in derbys band

That’s a great album. I’m so glad you brought it to us! I thought the 1955 band was top notch but this compilation was so good. Thanks a million !

  • Comment on Record Album – “Parade And Concert – ’97” by Hugh Johston September 24, 2025
Oh boy, do I remember Brooke’s Chicago! At the inaugural parade for Governor Shafer in 1967 we played that right through six or seven times. It was a cold January day in Harrisburg and that was a real bear for the clarinets. That’s a really good Seitz march, but on the march in the cold–yuck!

  • Comment on New Record Added – “Then And Now – Volume 2” by Jeff Yannello September 22, 2025
I liked Colonel Jayne’s. I played for him on alumni weekends. I played the Tenor and Bari saxes a few times and the trombone in a few more of them. Feltham accepted me in 9th grade on the trombone. However, that didn’t materialize on the home front.. Derby accepted me on the Bari sax and […]

  • Comment on Valley Forge Regimental Band by Dick Buxbaum 56 Band September 20, 2025
At the news of VF closing the Academy , and with JC in doubt, as a former Bandie from 52-56 in the Academy I was arguably the youngest to have been accepted at least until then. I was privileged to play under DK Feltham for all my time at VF; including a couple years prior […]
