Dan’s Favorite Marches — 11 Comments

  1. I’d put Black Jack on there as well. I wish Bravura was recorded but I don’t think it ever was. Rest of the list is two thumbs up.

    • I don’t think we have a recording of black jack on here either. I remember being an awesome March but it didn’t come to mind. Good choice!

  2. I always liked Hands across the Sea. BTW, Black Jack followed by Scipio is in there I’m sure as I listen to it all the time. lol

  3. Dan: I have several CD’s of the band. I’m looking for a good home for them. If you would like, I’d be more than happy to send to you; just provide me your address.

  4. Love the picks Dan. Great memories. Loved Colas Breugnon Overture. Per Hugh’s comment, if I’m not mistaken, Black Jack (and Scipio) is on the “Spring Festival” album, 69-70.

    • Black Jack IS on here. I had forgotten about that one. Your reference is correct, sir!

Thanks for checking in and for the correction.

  5. Hey Dan, hope you are doing well in Ohio.

I did a little “research” and I believe Track 1 on the 1970-1971 Concert #1 is the march “Aufwarts” by Josef Gnos.
Aufwarts translated from German, I believe, means “Upward”, which is the name of the March we played way back then!
I remember playing it during my Plebe Year – 70/71.
Since it’s a March, I thought you might want to add it to your new Dan’s Favorite Marches list.

    All the best!

    Jeff Christopher

BTW, I like your new “Favorites” format.

    • Hey Jeff just getting your message. I’ll take a look at that and I’ll make some corrections as soon as I have the opportunity.

All is well here in Ohio and I hope all is well where you are! Be well and stay in touch.

      Dan
