Another New Dance Band Album Posted!
Here’s another one that I put off posting because I didn’t know anything about the recording that Ron Youngs provided me a long time go. But I was able to ID enough of the tracks so that Bob Coulon could recognize the album, “Odyssey,” and provide me not just with a track listing, but images of the front and back covers as well.
Many thanks to both Ron Youngs, without whom there would be no recordings at all, for providing the digital files for this album and for Bob Coulon who graciously provided the album art which enabled the identification of the tracks.
Enjoy!
DW…
Thank you, Dan, for posting the Odyssey album. It was such a great honor to play drums with these fabulous musicians…. all no older than 19years of age. All the brass section sounded and played way beyond their years. I also wanted to give the proper kudos to our cadet leader, Mr John Getz (aka Slyde Monaco on Facebook). John continued to play professionally after VFMA as a union musician in the Baltimore/DC area; where he had the opportunity to play with some of the world’s greatest stars. I had the great privilege of rooming with John (Slyde) my old man year. He had such a wonderful collection of records and all those great charts from the Buddy Rich Big Band….. a drummers wet dream! Again, thank you, Dan, for this post.
